More recently, Cushcraft has become a very prominent supplier of high performance antennas to OEMs and carriers in the Broadband Wireless Access and RFID markets. The acquisition of Pacific Wireless significantly enhances Cushcraft's growing prominence in the Broadband Wireless Access (including 802.16/WiMax) market by establishing a very strong presence in the WISP (Wireless Internet Service Provider) market. Both the Broadband Wireless Access and WISP markets are complimentary to the 802.11, Wi-Fi, WLAN market.

Cushcraft is also recognized within the industry for having developed the most advanced RF design and artificial intelligence optimization tools. These tools provide a strong design platform for developing solutions to our customer's most challenging RF problems, whether those challenges are for high performance, low cost or the optimal blend of both. . This allows the company's highly skilled engineering staff to design and develop extremely sophisticated, high performance RF structures in a fraction of the time that would be required using the best currently available design tools and techniques.

"We are looking forward to working with the experienced management team and established distributor network of Pacific Wireless", said Gregory S. Czuba, CEO of Cushcraft. "Over the past several years Cushcraft has developed advanced proprietary RF design and optimization tools that allow us to rapidly invent products that solve all kinds of difficult RF problems. Access to these design tools and the highly skilled engineering staff at Cushcraft will allow Pacific Wireless to more rapidly develop new high value products for the WISP market. Cushcraft also has a very strong financial position through our relationship with Polaris Venture Partners, Riverside Partners, Harbourvest Partners and Comerica Bank. The inherent growth characteristics for the markets that we have been independently active in coupled with Cushcraft's engineering and financial resources will enable the combined companies to grow exponentially." Cushcraft Optimal Merger Announcement

Cushcraft Corporation, a Manchester, NH based supplier of application specific enhanced performance antenna products and solutions, is proud to announce the acquisition of Optimal RF, a San Diego based designer and developer of high performance wireless communications and networking antenna products and solutions. Cushcraft acquires all assets of Optimal RF including existing products, customer service contracts, designs, IP and equipment in the transaction.

Cushcraft has become the world’s largest supplier of enhanced performance antennas for wireless LAN applications and is a major supplier of antennas for commercial wireless applications including In-building Cellular and Broadband Fixed Wireless as well as emerging applications such as RFID and Wimax (802.16). Historically, Cushcraft’s core competencies are its ability to effectively design and develop high performance antennas with a directed focus to drive down the cost curve without sacrificing performance. These have been key elements of the company’s success.

Optimal RF founders Dr. John Sanford and Dr. Peter Slettman are acknowledged industry leaders in the design and development of extreme performance, mechanically robust antennas and antenna design optimization tools. The merger of these two organizations creates a powerful engine for the development of Commercial Wireless antennas that enhance system performance while maintaining market conscience price points.

“Although antennas have historically played a key roll in the deployment of wireless communications and connectivity systems, an antenna’s ability to truly enhance system performance while not adding cost, is a critical component to the development of the next generation of commercial wireless systems” comments Jim Nugnes, Cushcraft VP of Sales and Marketing. “The combination of Cushcraft’s highly efficient manufacturing processes and Optimal RF’s advanced electromagnetic optimization capabilities gives us a long term competitive advantage providing products and solutions for Broadband Wireless Systems, RFID and virtually any contemporary or next generation commercial wireless system” says Gregory Czuba, Cushcraft’s President and C.E.O. “This merger represents a real mating of powerful yet complimentary skill sets and capabilities. I believe the industry will find this to be a truly compelling combination coming at a time when it is clearly calling upon those within the antenna community to provide solutions that signal a departure from past notions of what an antenna represents from the perspective of total system performance and value” says Dr. John Sanford.

CUSHCRAFT MINI-SERIES

Want to win at the miniature antenna game?

Don't want to install twice the needed in-building wireless infrastructure just to make up for inefficient distribution system or picocellular antennas? Tired of looking at mesmerizing, confusing antenna specifications that say one thing, but mean another?

Cushcraft offers in-building antennas that meet the needs and desires of both the site owner and the systems engineer. Cushcraft's mini-series ceiling mounted antennas are all vertically polarized and omnidirectional, both critical factors as we enter a world where the ability to consistently deliver high rate digital data streams will be the key element in measuring wireless system performance.

Cushcraft mini-series antennas offer consistent gain performance over the entire frequency band of operation that they are designed for with no major nulls in their -3dB patterns.

Cushcraft offers stand alone antenna designs along with the ability to integrate antennas into picocell and microcell base stations, access points and RF distribution systems.

Cushcraft mini-series antennas can also be used with user devices or can be embedded into them if desired.

ECLIPSE

Integrated Spatial Diversity Antennas

The Eclipse series of antennas offers the benefits of spatial antenna diversity in easy to install, integrated packages. Antenna spacing, and mounting are no longer random variables. They are fixed and their values can be designed into the in-building or campus wireless system before installation. Radiating elements are fixed at proper spacings so that their patterns are not skewed away from common coverage areas. Eclipse includes both omnidirectional and directional antenna solutions in frequencies from 1.7 GHz to 5.8 GHz.

DOUBLE UP

Distinctive styling, predictable performance.
Cushcraft's dual band omnidirectional antenna provides excellent, predictable pattern shaping in an aesthetically complimentary, low profile enclosure. The antenna is available either in an AMPS/PCS or a GSM/DCS version with VSWR below 1.6:1 in both operational bands. Most importantly, Cushcraft's antennas provide predictable pattern shaping, mitigating the effects induced by the random variables common to microcell, picocell and distribution system applications.
